Handlebars
Handlebars first came as a solid vertical wavy pattern. I didn't act on it right away and the image showed up several days later and I recognized the need to make a work out of the design. The first iteration was plainly geometric and simple. I liked it but after a few days and a few added lines I felt it needed more. Using the erasure technique the curved grid became the wavy pattern that now exhibits more movement than the first static design. Because the figure is precariously standing on a moving surface I attached him to the two lines above him to provide stability. Having something to hold onto during chaos is emotionally balancing.
